The AI Search Health widget in Site Audit helps you measure your site’s optimization for AI-driven visibility and take steps to improve it.
With the rise of generative AI usage, your site’s technical readiness for AI systems is a critical element of reaching people with your website.
Maintaining strong Site Health is crucial not only for traditional SEO but also for visibility on AI search platforms like ChatGPT, AI Overviews, and Perplexity as they cite websites and mention brands in their responses.
What is AI Search Health?
AI Search Health is a score that reflects how optimized your website is for AI search.
A higher score means your website content is:
- More accessible to AI crawlers
- Better structured for understanding
- More likely to be included in AI-powered search results and generated answers
This score appears as a dedicated widget inside your Site Audit dashboard.
How is the Score Calculated?
Your AI Search Health score is based on several factors:
- AI search checks in Site Audit: Common issues that impact AI visibility (crawlability, structured data, internal linking, etc.)
- AI bot access: Whether AI crawlers like OAI-SearchBot, Google AI, Perplexity, or others are blocked by your robots.txt file
- Technical readiness: Missing or misconfigured elements that encourage visibility (e.g., schema markup, crawlable navigation, internal links, llms.txt).
The Blocked from AI Search Widget
To complement your AI Search Health score, Site Audit includes the Blocked from AI Search widget.
This shows:
- The number of pages currently blocked from different AI search bots
- Which bots (out of 8 major AI crawlers) are restricted from accessing your site
Blocking these bots prevents your content from appearing in AI-driven answers, limiting your visibility in generative search.
How to Use the AI Search Site Audit
- Set up a Site Audit project for your domain.
- In the crawler settings, select OAI-Search to view your site as ChatGPT search sees it.
- Run your audit.
- Check the AI Search Health widget to see your score.
- Review the Blocked from AI Search widget for any restricted bots.
- Go to the Issues tab and filter for AI Search to see specific problems and fixes.
Why It Matters
- If your site is blocked or poorly structured, AI systems can’t crawl, understand, or cite your content.
- Fixing these issues ensures your brand stays visible in AI search engines like ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, and Gemini.
- This future-proofs your site so you remain competitive as AI search evolves.
